Dental Bonding

Bonding is the use of tooth-colored composites to cover discolored spots, close gaps, repair chips and fractures, reshape turned or tipped teeth, and to make teeth look whiter. With proper care, these materials may last five or more years. Bonding is usually painless with no anesthesia and can be done in one appointment.

A mild etching solution is applied onto your teeth to develop small crevices in the enamel structure of your tooth. These small crevices provide a rough surface allowing a durable resin to bond with your teeth. The resin is then placed on your tooth and use of a high-intensity light cures the resin onto the tooth's surface. Each layer of resin hardens in just minutes. When the last coat has been applied to your tooth, the bonded material is finally sculpted and polished to fit your tooth.

Resin comes in many shades of white so that we are able to match it to your natural teeth. Due to the layers involved, this procedure will take slightly longer than traditional silver fillings because multiple layers of the bonding material are applied.
